LUHRC is affiliated with the British Universities & Colleges Sports League (BUCS).
BUCS run equestrian team competitions divided into two leagues, the Championship and the Trophy league.
Our team of 4 riders competes in dressage and show jumping on unknown horses in a league round against 3 other universities. Each university hosts one competition and the team with the most points after all 4 league competitions goes through to the next round.
Altogether there are 3 stages; the League Round, the Regional Finals, and after that the National Finals.
Our team trainer is Katie Stephens, who is based at Moor Farm near Malton. She is also a selector for BUCS for the GB Student Riders International Squad.
Team training is held at Katie's, with extra training at our home competition venue, Wilsden Equestrian Centre, after the Christmas break.
Team trials are divided into 2 stages and are held at the start of the year. Make sure you join the Club early and look out for details of team trials to avoid disappointment! The final squad comprises of three A, B and C teams, as well as reserves.
Potential team members need to be experienced riders who are confident and capable riding a wide variety of horses. They need to be able to ride a Novice dressage test and show jump to a minimum of 1 metre.
